Accessing the PAYE and HMRC section
Once the basic client details have been completed, click "Save & Next" to proceed to the PAYE and HMRC section.
Adding PAYE and HMRC Details
You will be required to provide the client's PAYE reference and HMRC gateway details, which are essential for RTI submissions. Additionally, you may enter an HMRC correspondence email address.
PAYE Reference Number: The PAYE reference number consists of two parts:
A three-digit HMRC office number
A unique reference number for your business
Example formats: 123/A56789 or 123/AB56789
Employment Allowance
Employment Allowance
If your client is eligible for Employment Allowance, enable the toggle button. Upon activation, the following fields will appear:
Tax Year: Select the relevant tax year.
Employment Allowance Amount Claimed: Enter the amount claimed for the selected tax year.
Company’s Industry: Choose the applicable industry.
Apprenticeship Levy Allowance
Apprenticeship Levy Allowance
If applicable, enable the Apprenticeship Levy Allowance toggle button. Once activated, the following fields will be displayed:
Allowance Amount: Choose from £15,000, £0, or a custom amount. If you selected "Custom Amount," an additional field will appear for manual entry.
Tax Year: Select the relevant tax year.
Apprenticeship Levy Amount Claimed: Enter the claimed amount for the selected tax year.
Small Employer's Relief: Enable this option if your client qualifies for Small Employer’s Relief (e.g., for statutory payments like Statutory Maternity Pay - SMP).
If total NI contributions (both employee and employer) in the qualifying tax year are less than £45,000, check the provided box.
If total NI contributions exceed £45,000, leave the box unchecked.
HMRC Inbox IR Mark
HMRC Inbox IR Mark
This section allows you to add the IR Mark, a software-generated reference from HMRC, for notifications such as P6, P9, SL1, SL2, PGL1, PGL2, and RTI.
The IR Mark functions as a sequence number, ensuring that notifications appear in the HMRC Inbox in order. If left blank, notifications from the start of the client's operations will be included.
Saving PAYE & HMRC Details
Once all required details are entered, you may
Click "Draft" to save progress without proceeding.
Click "Save & Next" to move to the next step in the setup process.
Click "Exit Setup" (top-left) to return to the client list screen.
Updating PAYE and HMRC Details
To update PAYE and HMRC details after the initial setup, follow these steps:
Navigate to the Dashboard by clicking on the logo.
On the "Manage Clients" list, locate the client you wish to update and click the Edit icon in the corresponding row. This will open the client details page.
In the PAYE section, click "More" to edit details.
A slider will appear, showing PAYE and HMRC fields similar to those on the initial setup screen. Make the necessary changes. For more details about this screen, please review this section.
Save or Discard Changes:
Click Save to confirm the updates.
Click the Close icon
at the top right of the slider to discard changes.
